When I left High School in 1961, I took a freighter from Montreal to Bristol, and then travelled to London by train. I soon reunited with my old friend Brian Rider and had my first pint of fine English ale (drinking age 18) at his local pub, The Greyhound Carshalton. I found employment in the Claims Department of a large insurance company in London. I returned to Canada in 1966 ultimately as an international commercial/industrial loss adjuster. I had enough of constant air travel and decided to retire ten years ago, but subsequently did some consulting and arbitration.
